Services
Residential electrical services for Anchorage homes
We chose these services because they reflect how Anchorage homes actually use electricity: winter outages, older panels, snow and ice, and a growing list of electric equipment.

Backup power
Windstorms cause most of Anchorage’s longer outages, and most homes need electricity to keep the heat on.
Capacity and protection
Older panels, new electric loads and current code requirements.
Winter and exterior
Snow, ice and long dark months put extra demands on outdoor electrical work.
Repairs and wiring
Diagnosing problems and planning new or replacement wiring.
Services we chose not to cover separately
To avoid thin or duplicate pages, some topics are covered inside related guides instead:
- Electrical service upgrades — covered on panel and service upgrades.
- Hot tub circuits — covered as a new-circuit project under wiring and panel capacity.
- Pipe heat trace — discussed on the heat cable page.
- Solar and off-grid systems — specialized work with different providers; not currently covered.
- Smoke and CO alarms — important for safety, but rarely a standalone electrical hire; see safety notes on the backup power guide.
